What screening services does Cozy offer?
Cozy offers two types of screenings.
- Background check
- Credit check
Cozy gives you the option to do both for $39.99, one for $24.99, or none at all. Both screenings are paid for by the applicant. Cozy also gives you the option to change your mind. If you choose to not require screenings at first, but then change your mind down the road or vice versa, you can!
Background check
Checkr is a website that runs background checks for Cozy. They provide you with a PDF report that has:
- Personal Information
- SSN Verification
- Civil Search
- Sex Offender Search
- Terrorist Watchlist Search
- National Criminal Search
- County Criminal Search
How long will the background check take?
The background checks take on average of about two hours. This can obviously take longer if the applicant raises any red flags.

Credit Check
Experian is a website that provides Cozy with their credit checks. Each report reveals the applicants:
- Credit overview
- Payment history
- Account history
- Inquiries
- Address history
- Employment history
- Score Factors

Is my information safe?
We believe that Cozy provides a safe and secure service to its clients. Of course, we can only speak for ourselves. We personally haven’t had any problems with their system. If you would like to learn more about their Security and Privacy details please click the link provided. I would write a review about it, but I don’t think I could do better than Cozy themselves.
Group screening
If you have a group of people that you are applying together, it would not be a single payment for the screening you chose. Each person would have to pay the fee for their own screening.
For example: If you chose to do both a background check and a credit check for your property, and you have a group of 3 adults looking to apply together, each of them would have to pay $39.99 for their screening.
How to request screenings
Went you create a listing you have the option to require screenings. You can also choose to request the screenings directly from the applicant. If you choose to require a screening once an application is filled out on Cozy, the system will e-mail you as soon as someone applies. If you choose to request the screenings directly, all you need is the applicant’s name and e-mail to request a background check, credit check, or both. Once you have requested this information, Cozy will send an e-mail to the applicant.
Both you and the applicant will receive an e-mail once the screening have finished, and you will have access to them for up to 30 days after your purchase. If you would like to have them on file, Cozy has the option of downloading, or printing the files.
